Tom Melancon's Music Page

"Acoustic guitar & dusky vocal melody resonate with poetry of the road in Tom Melancon's alt-country & folk-rock songs."

Tom grew up in Nevada, and he cut his songwriting teeth at a little coffee shop near the University of Reno called the Blue Mailbox. Tom has been playing Electric Bass and Rhythm Guitar and adding his vocal and song-writing chops to bands in Nevada, Oregon and Washington State for 30 years. Since moving to Seattle, Tom has played bass guitar with bands Purefoy and Angelo DelSenno and the Empty Sky. He completed a Certificate Program in Songwriting from the Experience Music Project and the UW in 2005. In 2011, Tom released a five song EP under the name "Downward Facing Dude" called "Gun." The song was recorded at 1Shot Studio and at Glenn Sound. The EP features Chris Quinn (Truly, SGM, West Section Line, Palooka) on Electric Guitar, Dylan Fant on Drums and Jon Auer (The Posies, Big Star) on backing vocals. The songs were mixed by Dylan Fant and Glenn Lorbecki and mastered by Rick Fisher at RFI. After a three year hiatus from Acoustic Shows while Tom recorded and performed with Angelo DelSenno, he was re-inspired when he played a show in Redmond Washington in February with long time friend Mark Huff from Nashville, TN. Tom is working on new material and hopes to release a new batch of songs in 2014.
