The songwriting duo of this band started back in 1999 in the UK when Shawn and Randy were stationed in England together while serving in the US Armed Forces together. Shawn and Randy joined up with a couple other guys from the base and began gigging all over the midlands until the military separated them.In 2015, the Sons of Liberty formed to bring quality rock and roll to the Mid-Atlantic. With a vision of keeping the spirit of classic rock and roll alive, Shawn and Randy began working on original songs together. It seems the pair had been writing music since their England days separately, but they needed someone they each trusted musically to help hone their ideas into finished songs. Consequently, Ride Off Again, which would be the band's first album, began to take shape. With influences ranging from The Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and Stevie Ray Vaughan to ACDC, Rival Sons and Tom Petty, Shawn and Randy's songwriting runs the gamut of classic rock and blues based music. The release of Ride Off Again in October 2016 brought an uptick in gigs for the band and interest in the music has spanned the globe. The album has been streamed in Germany, New Zealand, Mexico, France, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Spain, Finland, Canada and many others as well as the United States.
Said Rob McKenzie of Fireworks Magazine (Issue #77) about the album:
“The vocals are confident throughout and this album doubtlessly provides some good live material that would go down a storm in a roadhouse near you.”The band has played gigs in pubs, festivals, private events and charity events and is always working on new music to release.
