Opposite south sides converge in this unlikely crew created by South GA raised, Blake English, and LA native, Tori Lund. The two met in 2014 playing in a LA church and began writing with a shared a love of country music. Fast forward three years and they emerged from the studio with a slew of self-written, recorded and produced songs with intentions to shop them to other artists. However, they soon realized they weren’t willing to part with their babies and instead joined forces with LA musicians Ryan Posner on bass, Simon Horrocks on drums and Bob Bernstein on pedal steel (Tanya Tucker, Emmylou Harris, Dwight Yoakum). In August 2017, the original duo quit their jobs, packed up their dog Jojo and headed to the dirty south where they linked up with drummer Tommy "Big Cajun" Ducharme (Big Block Rebel) and Italian bassist Anna Portalupi (Tarja Turunen).
Tori, a classically trained singer and yoga teacher is a misplaced country girl at heart. She grew up playing her family’s piano and quickly picked up the guitar. As an avid reader and creative writer, songwriting is a passion and comes instinctually. Penning the majority of FMS’ lyrics and budding catchy melodies with Blake, the two have an undeniable chemistry. Blake comes from a family of guitar players and songwriters. Rock, pop, country and rhythm & blues form his musical foundation. He signed his first publishing deal upon moving to LA in 2000 and has since worked in his studio as a writer, producer and engineer. His credits include Toni Braxton, George Benson and a Grammy nominated album by Brandy. Tired of the publishing rat race he decided to return to his country roots and play live music.
Few Miles South offers a blend of traditional and modern country sounds with sonic influences ranging from Hank Williams and Patsy Cline, to the Allman Brothers and Sturgill Simpson. They are currently playing throughout the Southeast U.S and have plans to take their show on the road soon. They recently released their first single and music video, “On Down the Road,” are eager to drop their EP, and have an album cocked and loaded.
